in anticipation

I'm going to Mexico! This summer from June 7th until August 9th I will be in Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca with Global Frontier Missions. If you're interested, the first map shows where the state of Oaxaca is in relation to the rest of Mexico, and the second map shows where Tlaxiaco is (Marked with the black arrow).

Over half of Mexico’s indigenous people groups live in Oaxaca, many with a distinct language or dialect and culture. Many of these people live in unreached villages, meaning that there is no organized church, or, in many cases, no Christians at all. Global Frontier Missions is specifically focusing their efforts on the Mixtec people groups in western Oaxaca. Within this region, there are both physical needs with conditions in extreme poverty and spiritual needs for meeting the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I will be participating in what is called the Missions Extreme Internship, where I will work alongside other interns and full-time church-planting missionaries in Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, a Mixtec market town with a population of about 20,000. Tlaxiaco serves as a strategic location for mission efforts in the region because people from the surrounding Mixtec villages all come to buy and sell things at the market. Throughout the internship we will lead and participate in ministries in Tlaxiaco and the surrounding villages such as discipleship, church planting, relational evangelism, Bible studies, and community and micro enterprise developments. If you want to find out more about Oaxaca, the Mixtec people, the internship, or Global Frontier Missions, you should check out their website globalfrontiermissions.com.

For my friends and family, I'll use this blog to give updates on the ministry in Tlaxiaco, reflect on my experiences, and share pictures. Hope you enjoy, and feel free to comment! Thank you so much to all who have supported me both financially and in prayer. I am incredibly excited to be a part of the work for the Kingdom in this way.
All for Him, Elizabeth
